Discussing solutions for developing 'model commodity gardens' in the construction of advanced new rural areas

(Baonghean.vn) - Implementing the construction of New Rural standard gardens in Nghe An province, up to now, the whole province has had more than 700 gardens registered to implement, 256 gardens have been assessed and recognized as New Rural standard gardens in the period 2021 - 2025.

On the morning of September 30, in Vinh city,Vietnam Gardening AssociationIn coordination with the National Agricultural Extension Center and Nghe An Gardening Association, we organized the Workshop "System of criteria and solutions for developing model commodity gardens according to the value chain, contributing to building advanced and model New Rural Areas".

Attending the workshop were representatives of the National Agricultural Extension Center, the Vietnam Gardening Association and delegates from localities in the North Central region.

In his opening speech at the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hong, Chairman of the Vietnam Horticulture Association, stated: Garden economy (more broadly, VAC economy) is an important component of the rural household economy and the rural economy. Developing the garden economy creates conditions for a strong shift in the production structure in agriculture towards multi-purpose, combining agriculture with processing industry, developing eco-tourism and training and entertainment services; thereby, improving the efficiency of land use, increasing the value of agricultural products, creating more jobs and income for farmers.

At the same time, it improves the ecological environment and landscape and makes an important contribution to the construction of new rural areas and advanced new rural areas in a civilized, modern and sustainable direction. However, the criteria and solutions for developing model gardens, standard gardens, and model farms in the construction of advanced new rural areas are still quite confusing.

At the workshop, from the presentations and sharing of experts, organizations, especially officials and farmer members who have been developing garden economy, to propose a framework of criteria for building model gardens (standard gardens) in new rural areas and advanced model farms.

At the same time, summarize practical experiences to propose key solutions to develop and improve the efficiency of garden economy in the direction of multifunctional commodity production, application of circular agriculture, organic agriculture, digital transformation, value chain linkage, ensuring product traceability, etc., contributing to the completion of advanced new rural construction targets.

Construction implementationNew Rural standard gardenIn Nghe An province, up to now, the whole province has had more than 700 gardens registered for implementation, of which 256 gardens have been assessed and recognized as new rural standard gardens for the period 2021 - 2025.

New rural standard gardens are designed with maps, drawings, processes, and projects in a scientific manner; planning the main plants and animals in the garden to ensure minimum income criteria and increase income. The application of science and technology in animal husbandry, cultivation, animal husbandry, etc. contributes greatly to the process of building new rural areas, advanced new rural areas, and model new rural areas in localities.
