The Legal Committee of Nghe An People's Council reviewed the draft resolution on merging communes for the period 2023 - 2025.

On the morning of May 30, the Legal Committee of the Provincial People's Council held a meeting to review a number of draft resolutions to be submitted to the 20th session of the 18th Provincial People's Council, term 2021 - 2026, scheduled to be held in early June 2024.

Attending the review meeting were comrade Nguyen Nhu Khoi - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council.

Review of draft resolutionApproving the policy of rearranging commune-level administrative units in Nghe An province, period 2023 - 2025, the meeting members agreed to submit to the Provincial People's Council for consideration and approval at the next session for this resolution.

According to the draft resolution, in Nghe An, there are 12 district-level units implementing the arrangement of commune-level administrative units in the period of 2023 - 2025 with a total of 89 communes and towns subject to arrangement and the arrangement will be reduced to 43 communes and towns, a reduction of 45 communes.

During the review, delegates raised a number of issues related to the name after the merger; specific factors in the merger process; the arrangement and use of cadres and civil servants after the arrangement and the settlement of redundant cadres and civil servants with a large total number (799 people).

Conducting the examination of the draft resolution approving the policy of expanding the administrative boundaries and urban space of Vinh city, establishing wards and arranging commune-level administrative units in Vinh city, Nghe An province; the Legal Committee and the Provincial People's Council highly agreed with the content of the draft resolution to submit to the Provincial People's Council for consideration and decision at the upcoming 20th session.

Some basic contents of the draft resolution related to Vinh city include expanding the administrative boundaries and urban space of Vinh city on the basis of merging the entire natural area and population of Cua Lo town and 4 communes of Nghi Loc district into Vinh city; establishing 4 wards on the basis of the current status of 4 communes of Hung Dong, Hung Loc, Nghi Phu, Nghi Duc; merging 5 wards of Doi Cung, Le Mao, Quang Trung, into Quang Trung ward and merging Hong Son ward, Vinh Tan ward, into Vinh Tan ward.

The Legal Committee of the Provincial People's Council also reviewed the draft resolution regulating the criteria for establishment, criteria for the number of members of the Security and Order Protection Team; the level of support and compensation for participants in the Security and Order Protection Team and the level of expenditure for forces participating in security and order protection at the grassroots level in the province.
