(Baonghean.vn) -On May 28th, the Supervisory Delegation of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Nghe An Provincial People's Council held a working session with the Nghe An Provincial Police to inspect the situation regarding the enforcement of laws in the management of detainees, those under temporary detention, and prisoners undergoing rehabilitation from 2011 to the present.

Representing the Provincial Police Department was Colonel Lu Van Tuong, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police Department and head of the criminal enforcement agency.

Over the past two years, the Investigation and Enforcement Agencies at all levels under the Nghe An Provincial Police have basically complied with the law in the work of arresting, detaining, investigating, and prosecuting crimes, ensuring that the right person is charged with the right crime, preventing wrongful convictions and the escape of criminals. District-level detention centers and temporary holding facilities have effectively implemented legal regulations on temporary detention, especially ensuring the proper policies and benefits for those temporarily detained; they have also invested in funding and resources to improve detention management, strengthened operational measures to manage and supervise, and promptly detected and prevented acts of resistance and violations of detention regulations; the handling of complaints and denunciations related to arrest, temporary detention, and temporary holding has been given timely attention and guidance, thus contributing to reducing the number of prolonged and escalated complaints…

At the meeting, Ms. Thai Thi An Chung, Deputy Head of the Provincial Legal Affairs Committee, acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements made in the past period. She also expressed her hope that in the future, the Nghe An Provincial Police would continue to train and improve the quality of investigators; pay attention to the benefits and policies for officers directly involved in temporary detention and custody; increase investment in the infrastructure of temporary detention and custody facilities; and further improve coordination between enforcement agencies, courts, and procuratorates in the management of detainees, those in temporary custody, and the rehabilitation of prisoners.
