Selling 17,500 more train tickets for Lunar New Year 2017

From 8:00 a.m. on November 10, Saigon Railway Transport Company will open sale of 17,500 more train tickets for the 2017 Lunar New Year.

This is the number of tickets for the high-quality train cars that have just been renovated and upgraded by the Company.

Passengers can buy tickets in 3 ways: through the website vetau.com.vn, through official agents and at Saigon station. For the purchase at the station, passengers must text in advance to get a queue number to make an appointment for a specific date and time to buy tickets.

Of the total 17,500 tickets sold in the second phase, 9,100 tickets will be sold before Tet (from January 17 to January 30, 2017); 8,400 tickets will be sold after Tet from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City (from January 31 to February 12).

Train tickets for Tet this year have been on sale by Saigon Railway Transport Joint Stock Company since October 1. This year, the number of tickets allocated for the 10 days before Tet is 133,000, of which 12,500 are extra seats, and 160,000 for the 10 days after Tet (15,000 are extra seats). This year's ticket prices compared to last year's Tet have increased by the most, 9.8% (depending on the type of seat or sleeper).

At this point, the first batch of tickets has been sold out.

Saigon Railway Transport Company also said that from today, November 7, it will organize the operation of SH3/SH4 express freight trains from Giap Bat station (Hanoi) to Song Than station (Binh Duong) and vice versa. The train has a journey time of only 51 hours, shortening the travel time compared to other freight trains by about 11 hours.

Train SH4 departs from Song Than station at 10:00 p.m. on November 7. Train SH3 departs from Giap Bat station at 10:55 p.m. on November 8.
