Head of the Central Organizing Committee Pham Minh Chinh said that the Central Organizing Committee has consulted with the Standing Committee of Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee, proposing to temporarily suspend the election of Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh as Vice Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee for the 2016-2021 term.

Speaking to the press on the afternoon of June 15, Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Head of the Central Organizing Committee, said that the Central Organizing Committee has proposed that the Standing Committee of the Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee temporarily suspend the election of the position of Vice Chairman of the province for the 2016-2021 term for Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh - Vice Chairman of the Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee. The reason, according to Mr. Chinh, is that currently, the authorities are investigating and clarifying the contents reported by the press related to Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh under the direction of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Previously, on June 9, the Central Party Office issued an official dispatch conveying the opinion of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on the request to quickly inspect and conclude the case of "private car with blue license plate" related to Vice Chairman of Hau Giang Province Trinh Xuan Thanh, considering this an urgent task and reporting the results to the Secretariat.

According to the report, Vice Chairman of Hau Giang province Trinh Xuan Thanh uses a personal car Toyota Lexus 570 with blue license plate 95A-0699.

After General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong gave instructions, central agencies have quickly taken action to verify and clarify issues related to Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh. On June 13, Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee sent a report to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Central Inspection Committee, the Central Party Office and the Ministry of Public Security on the case of Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh using a luxury car with a blue license plate.

What has attracted public attention in the above case is that after leading the Vietnam Oil and Gas Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVC) to a loss of about 3 trillion VND, Mr. Thanh was continuously transferred and held many important positions in the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Hau Giang province: in 2013, Mr. Thanh was appointed as Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry of Industry and Trade; then Head of the Department - Ministry of Enterprise Innovation Board. In May 2015, Mr. Thanh was transferred and elected as Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hau Giang province.

However, according to Mr. Tran Luu Hai, former Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee, Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh is not on the list of cadres transferred by the Politburo to work in localities as Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committees, City Party Committees and Vice Chairman of People's Committees of provinces and cities. The transfer of Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh was proposed by Hau Giang province to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. "This is due to the agreement between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Hau Giang province" - Mr. Hai said.

A former official of the Central Organizing Committee said that after the General Secretary gave instructions, the authorities must also clarify whether the appointment and transfer of Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh followed proper procedures.

On June 10, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh directed the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group to clarify the incident and report to the Prime Minister before June 25./.
