(Baonghean.vn) - The red card and the penalty goal in the first half were the turning points that caused SLNA to lose 1-2 to Ho Chi Minh City FC in the match at Vinh Stadium. This was considered a heavy-handed situation by the main referee Truong Hong Vu.

In the 40th minute of the match between SLNA and Ho Chi Minh City, Victor Mansaray’s foreign player fired a shot, the ball hit Quang Tinh’s hand. The video showed that the SLNA player did not intend to play the ball with his hand, and he was completely passive in this situation.

However, referee Truong Hong Vu decisively awarded the away team a penalty and Tinh was sent off. It was Mansaray who scored from the penalty spot and played with an extra man to help the away team come back to win 2-1.

In the post-match press conference, coach Nguyen Duc Thang blamed the referee: “I don’t blame the referee for losing, but there were situations where the referee couldn’t keep up. In the situation where Quang Tinh got a red card, he didn’t intentionally block the goal. His hands were free. The referees’ accuracy is very important for the development of Vietnamese football.”

Meanwhile, coach Chung Hae-soung affirmed: "Handball in the penalty area deserves a red card." This victory helps Ho Chi Minh City get 41 points, behind Hanoi who have 43 points but have not played round 22.

D. “Denying an opponent a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (not applicable to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area)”.

Football rules

According to the law, the penalty for SLNA was correct, but maybe referee Truong Hong Vu did not have a good angle to determine whether it was intentional or unintentional by the SLNA player.

And the direct red card for Quang Tinh was considered too harsh for SLNA. Playing with one less man, SLNA could only hold out until the 78th minute before conceding the second goal and going home empty-handed.

On television, commentator Quang Tung commented: “Immediately after that, Quang Tinh was in a very unlucky situation. Mansaray’s shot pushed the ball into Quang Tinh’s arm. This caused the midfielder of the Nghe An team to be disqualified from the match.”
