There are opinions that the US midterm election results were interfered with, causing the Republican Party to win, forcing the state of Florida to recount the votes.

Reuters reported on November 10 that authorities in the US state of Florida announced that they will conduct a machine recount of ballots cast in the midterm elections for the US Senate and the position of governor of the state. The results are expected to be announced at 3 p.m. next Thursday (November 15).

What is happening in Florida reminds people of a similar scenario, also in this state during the 2000 Presidential election. At that time, both Democrats and Republicans accused each other of "foul play" and lawyers had to get involved.

In the Florida Senate race, as of the evening of November 10 (US time), Republican Governor Rick Scott was leading Democratic Senator Bill Nelson by about 12,500 votes, or 0.15%.

Governor Rick Scott called on authorities to closely monitor the recount process to prevent any violations and be ready to take appropriate measures if necessary.

"We will not let unscrupulous liberals steal this election! It is time for Senator Nelson to accept the results and let Florida move forward to a better future," Scott wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Mr Nelson asserted that his campaign would continue, to ensure that every vote counted was not tampered with by efforts to undermine democracy.

“We are confident that when every legal vote is counted, we will win this election,” Nelson said in a statement.

In the race for governor, unofficial results show Republican candidate Ron DeSantis leading Democratic candidate Andrew Gillum by about 33,700 votes, or 0.41%.

DeSantis asserted that the vote count was completely "clear and transparent" and that he was honored to have the trust of the people of Florida.

“It is important that everyone involved in the election process strictly adheres to the laws that are the foundation of our country,” DeSantis stressed.

For his part, Mr. Gillum - who is trying to become the first African-American Governor of Florida - said that his team will fight to the end to demand a fair vote count./.
