Pizza and vodka celebrate Syria deal
(Baonghean.vn) - The agreement between US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on a new ceasefire in Syria has been welcomed by international public opinion. Right in Geneva, Switzerland, the press standing outside the meeting room were treated to pizza and vodka to celebrate this agreement.
Before reaching the final agreement, US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had a marathon meeting that lasted more than 14 hours. During this time, the international press insisted on “sticking to the battlefield” and did not move a step.

When the two Foreign Ministers walked out of the meeting room in the early morning of September 10 with positive results, the press was allowed to join in the "celebration" with 5 boxes of pizza and 2 bottles of vodka: pizza prepared by the American delegation, vodka prepared by the Russian delegation.
The press immediately understood that the combination of an American favorite food and a Russian favorite drink represented a balance of diplomatic protocol.
However, some details that Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova later posted on Facebook revealed a much more interesting story. That is, Pizza is the favorite food of US Secretary of State John Kerry, and the US delegation prepared pizza for him to "temporarily eat" during breaks in the negotiation session.

At the end of the meeting, pizza was also brought to the journalists who had been standing outside the meeting room for more than half a day. However, some journalists requested more vodka to make it “easier to swallow”. Mr. Lavrov was very happy to comply with this request, so 2 bottles of vodka were brought.
Whether the pizza and vodka combination was pre-planned or a surprise, it was a great combination, symbolic of Russian-American cooperation in solving the Syrian problem.
