Pyongyang's 'treasure' in case of nuclear war
Pyongyang's 110m deep subway system would be used as a bunker in the event of a nuclear war.
According to Daily Mail, the Pyongyang subway project began construction in 1968 and was inaugurated in 1973.

Pyongyang residents could turn this 110m underground system into a bunker if a war breaks out between North Korea and the US.

Earlier this year, a senior official of Mr Kim's declared that Pyongyang was "not afraid" of preemptive US military action.

Photographer Eric Lafforgue captured images of the North Korean subway system during a visit to the secretive country. He said the system has 17 stations and a ticket costs just half a US cent.

"You have to put your ticket through one of the automated machines to get it checked. But they weren't working on the day I visited. Instead, a staff member on the train checked the ticket by hand," the photographer said.

"The stations are named after: Comrade, Red Star, Freedom, Victory, Paradise... not after places. Going down 110m underground only takes a few seconds but you feel like you are living in a movie when revolutionary music and patriotic songs are played continuously on the loudspeakers."

The photos by photographer Eric Lafforgue were released as the US and South Korean militaries prepared to conduct a large-scale military exercise after North Korea said it was finalizing plans to launch missiles towards Guam.
