The press plays a role in resolving difficulties and creating consensus among the people.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 8th, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, in coordination with the Department of Information and Communications, held its regular monthly press briefing for April 2014. Comrade Le Ba Hung - Provincial Party Committee member and Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, and Comrade Ho Quang Thanh - Director of the Department of Information and Communications, chaired the meeting. Also in attendance were the editors-in-chief and representatives of central and local press agencies operating in the province.

Comrade Le Ba Hung, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, commended the proactive and creative approach of the press agencies in their propaganda work, which has contributed to resolving obstacles and shortcomings, and fostering consensus among the people.

Comrade Ho Quang Thanh, Director of the Department of Information and Communications, delivered a speech at the conference.

In April 2014, the press focused on publicizing prominent current events, political activities, and socio-economic developments in Nghe An province, including: provincial leaders working with domestic and foreign investors; conferences promoting Nghe An tourism in Laos, Thailand, Lam Dong, and Da Nang; the implementation of the Constitution; the Fatherland Front congresses at all levels; and the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory... Particularly during the month, the media devoted significant time to reporting on the land clearance work for National Highway 1A, fostering public consensus and offering solutions to units and localities to overcome existing problems and ensure the land clearance process was completed on schedule. Nghe An Newspaper and the Provincial Radio and Television Station received a letter of commendation from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for their work in publicizing the land clearance for National Highway 1A.

Comrade Nguyen Ba Hao - Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications - reported on the outstanding issues reflected in the press during April 2014.

Newspapers and television stations also focused on disseminating information about disease prevention and control measures, warning about various epidemics, and reflecting the complex developments of the measles outbreak. Many articles and reports reflected the atmosphere of emulation in building new rural areas, poverty reduction efforts; introduced the tourism potential and advantages of Nghe An... and addressed pressing issues in some localities such as: illegal labor export, environmental pollution, traffic safety violations, and delayed project progress...

At the conference, leaders and representatives of media agencies contributed opinions and feedback on the dissemination of information about socio-economic events and issues in the province.

Leaders of press agencies, provincial departments and agencies, and resident reporters attended the briefing.

Concluding the conference, Comrade Le Ba Hung, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, acknowledged the proactive and effective development of propaganda programs and features by Nghe An Newspaper, the Provincial Radio and Television Station, and several other media agencies. These efforts have contributed significantly to identifying and warning about emerging issues in the socio-economic life of the province, helping functional agencies to effectively resolve existing problems. In the coming period, media agencies should focus on disseminating information about the implementation of Directive 03 on "promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's moral example," the implementation of the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; investment promotion activities, administrative reform; promoting Nghe An's scenic spots; and cultural activities in the province such as the folk song festival and the Lang Sen festival. They should also continue to promote the "journalism competition on the theme of building new rural areas and poverty reduction." Disease prevention and control work during the transitional season... In addition, agencies, departments, and localities also need to definitively resolve the issues raised by the press and provide written responses to the press in accordance with regulations.

At the conference, Mr. Tran Quoc Thanh, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, presented the plan for organizing activities for Vietnam Science and Technology Day (May 18, 2014) and the mechanism for encouraging and supporting organizations and individuals to invest in new technologies, technological innovation, and applied scientific and technological research in Nghe An province. He expressed his hope that the press would cooperate in promoting and supporting activities in response to Vietnam Science and Technology Day (May 18).
