On August 15th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a directive to the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of provinces and centrally-administered cities, requesting them to ensure the safety of tourists during the National Day holiday on September 2nd.

According to the official dispatch, the upcoming National Day holiday on September 2nd is expected to see a significant increase in tourist numbers, especially domestic tourists. This situation poses many potential risks to security and safety, including fraud, price gouging, harassment, and persistent soliciting of tourists, particularly in key tourist areas.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requests that the Directors of the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism in provinces and centrally-administered cities closely monitor the situation of tourists in their areas, coordinate with all levels and sectors to review, rearrange and re-plan tourism service business activities at tourist attractions in their areas, forecast the number of tourists and the capacity of accommodation establishments, train stations, ports, and tourist attractions to have timely response plans.

Strengthen coordination with functional forces in localities to inspect and monitor compliance with regulations on protecting social order, ensuring environmental hygiene, and regulations on price and fee management for services at tourism businesses; resolutely handle serious incidents that negatively affect tourists at tourist destinations in the area; coordinate in reviewing and improving the quality of transportation services, ensuring the safety of lives and property of tourists when participating in traffic, especially for road and inland waterway transport, and resolutely prevent the departure of vehicles that do not meet technical and safety standards.

Enhance the provision of information about local services to tourists through the internet and tourism promotional publications; widely disseminate information and raise awareness among all segments of the population, encouraging people to voluntarily and actively participate in building a movement for civilized behavior, maintaining order and environmental hygiene, and committing to not participating in or assisting in acts that harm tourists at tourist areas and destinations.

Local authorities have established Tourist Support Centers and are urged to enhance their effectiveness, strengthen staffing during holidays, set up hotlines, and develop mechanisms for receiving and processing tourist feedback; they should also deploy additional functional forces at tourist areas and attractions with high concentrations of tourists and potential safety risks.

Maintain a strict duty roster, promptly resolve any issues or incidents arising related to environmental management, ensure security and safety for tourists, and regularly provide timely information and reports to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, through the Office of the State Steering Committee on Tourism, at the hotline number 0975207766.
