(Baonghean)Summer, the peak season for domestic water consumption, places immense pressure on water supply businesses in Vinh City. However, thanks to investments in increasing capacity and developing the water supply pipeline network, along with appropriate production plans, the Vinh Water Plant ( thuộc Nghệ An Water Supply Company Limited) is able to promptly meet the clean water needs of customers in Vinh City and surrounding areas.

Mr. Pham Van Nga, from Block 4, Truong Thi Ward, Vinh City, said: “Previously, at the beginning of summer, the tap water supply was very difficult, unstable, and affected people's daily lives. Recently, even during the peak summer months, the clean water supply remains stable, and sometimes tap water flows directly from the pipes to the water tanks on the upper floors. People no longer worry about the lack of water for daily use.”

Improving the capacity and quality of domestic water supply has always been a priority for the Water Supply Company Limited, with significant investment capital allocated to this goal. This is evidenced by the water supply system for Vinh City, currently managed by the company, which has a capacity of 60,000 m³.3/day (previously 20,000 m)3(/day) and another advantage in increasing production capacity to promptly meet the demand for clean water this summer is that the Cau Bach Water Treatment Plant with a capacity of 20,000 m3/day, part of the water supply system of the Nam Cam Industrial Park and surrounding areas, is being completed and will begin operation.

Over the past period, along with investment capital from domestic and foreign projects, and capital from businesses investing in the development of the water supply pipeline system, the water pipeline network has now been expanded to 16 wards and 7 communes of Vinh City and surrounding areas. Due to the increasing demand for domestic water use, the Vinh Water Treatment Plant (with a capacity of 60,000 m³) is currently in operation.3Currently operating at full capacity to meet customer demand for clean water, the Vinh Water Treatment Plant has developed a plan for supplying domestic water during the peak season (from May to July). Along with maintaining and repairing equipment and machinery, and preparing sufficient supplies such as chlorine, alum, and lime, the Vinh Water Treatment Plant is also carrying out dredging, environmental treatment, and rebuilding the entire trash screen system at the water intake pits at the Muoi Bridge and Duoc Bridge raw water pumping stations. The water plant regularly inspects and promptly addresses any issues arising during the raw water extraction process: If the river water level drops, measures are taken to prevent water from rising or to treat the water source in a timely manner. The company proactively coordinates with Nam Irrigation Company Limited in regulating water levels appropriately at the Ben Thuy and Nam Dan dams. In addition, it coordinates with the power company to improve the stability of the power supply...

In particular, the Vinh Water Plant pays close attention to the quality of domestic water, coordinating with relevant agencies to regularly take water samples at the plant for quality testing. To improve the quality of domestic water, the Vinh Water Supply Company is currently investing nearly 1.5 billion VND to renovate the entire water filtration system at the Vinh Water Pumping Station with a capacity of 20,000 m3. Due to the need to maintain production, the unit has chosen a phased investment approach. The Director of the Vinh Water Plant, Tran Van Tung, said: "To better serve the domestic water needs of customers during the summer of 2014, the plant has increased water supply hours from 20 hours/day to 24 hours/day, reaching a capacity of 1.9 million m3/month."

In early May, a crucial task for the Water Supply Company Limited was relocating a 900-meter-long, 500mm diameter pipeline to facilitate land clearance for the railway overpass construction project on National Highway 46. To ensure timely completion, the company mobilized 60 staff and workers, working three shifts a day, to relocate and connect the pipeline promptly and hand over the site to the General Corporation of Transport Construction No. 4. This ensured the project met its deadlines and minimized disruption to the clean water supply for 62,000 customers in Vinh City and surrounding areas. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Director of the One-Member Limited Liability Water Supply Company, stated: “The company is meeting the domestic water needs of the people, especially during this summer. In the unfortunate event of localized water shortages due to water scarcity and unstable electricity, the company has prepared water tankers and mobile water tanks to deliver water to customers. To use water more efficiently, customers should conserve clean water.”
