Nghe An Labor Newspaper celebrates 20th anniversary

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of July 28, Nghe An Labor Newspaper held a ceremony to celebrate its 20th anniversary (July 28, 1996 - July 28, 2016).

Also attending were comrade Nguyen Xuan Son, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council. Comrades who are members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee: Cao Thi Hien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Le Minh Thong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Ho Phuc Hop - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Secretary of the Party Committee of the Provincial Agencies Bloc, Vo Viet Thanh - Secretary of the Vinh City Party Committee, representatives of leaders of a number of departments, branches and sectors, along with a large number of cadres, reporters and collaborators of the newspaper through the periods.

Nghe An Labor Newspaper, formerly the Trade Union News, published its first issue in 1996. On July 28, 1996, the newspaper "Nghe An Laborer" officially published its first issue on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union.

In January 1997, at the 9th Conference of the Provincial Federation of Labor Executive Committee, term XIII (1993 - 1998), it was decided to change the name to "Nghe An Labor Newspaper" and decided to publish a weekly newspaper instead of publishing 2 issues/month as before.

After 20 years, despite many difficulties, the newspaper has grown with a circulation of 6,000 copies/issue.

The newspaper is also increasingly affirming its position in the hearts of readers, fulfilling its functions and tasks as a bridge between the people and the Party, between workers and trade unions at all levels; acting as a means of propagating the guidelines and policies of the Party, the State, the government and trade unions at all levels to the people; actively participating in the fight against corruption, waste and negativity. Many of the newspaper's works have a people's spirit, closely following events and are highly appreciated, many of which have won awards at the provincial and industry press awards.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Xuan Son highly appreciated the efforts of the Nghe An Labor Newspaper over the past 20 years. In the coming time, he hopes that the Nghe An Labor Newspaper will continue to innovate in content and form so that the press information and propaganda will be more and more in the right direction and attractive.

Comrade Le Minh Thong presented a banner from the Provincial People's Committee to the collective of Nghe An Labor Newspaper.

Besides, it is necessary to provide information quickly, accurately, objectively, honestly, promptly reflect pressing social issues, be truly close to the people, and speak up for the people's and workers' voices, thoughts, and aspirations.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee presented Nghe An Labor Newspaper with a banner with the words: Nghe An Labor Newspaper 20 years of establishment and development. The Provincial Journalists Association and the Provincial Labor Federation also presented a banner and an emulation flag to the unit with outstanding achievements in its activities.
