Although a ceasefire between the Hamas armed group and Israel was reached at 10 PM local time on March 25th, with mediation from Egypt, tensions in Gaza were not immediately resolved. Hours after the ceasefire took effect, air raid sirens sounded again in southern Israeli towns as a barrage of rockets from Gaza struck the area. Residents were immediately evacuated following shelter-seeking warnings, and schools were closed. Israeli fighter jets immediately launched retaliatory airstrikes that night, targeting two Hamas positions in Gaza.

On March 26, the Israeli army deployed tanks and reinforced troops to the Gaza border as a precautionary measure.

Police searched the areas surrounding these government buildings but found nothing suspicious. The sender of the bomb threats has not yet been identified.

German authorities had to carry out the evacuation after lawyers, politicians, journalists, and even a pop star received more than 100 threatening emails. These emails were allegedly sent by supporters of far-right groups.
