US Newspaper: President Putin's strategy with the West is effective
(Baonghean.vn) - The American business newspaper Wall Street Journal believes that Russia's achievements in foreign policy, military and economy prove that President Vladimir Putin's strategy of confronting the West has been effective.
Western countries were hoping for a successful counterattack by Ukraine and the collapse of the Russian economy under the pressure of sanctions, Ria Novosti reported, citing the authors of the Wall Street Journal article. However, the Russian economy is not destroyed. The country's army is on the offensive. And the Russian defense industry is superior to the West in terms of production volume. President Vladimir Putin can be "satisfied" with the achievements of foreign policy, evidenced by the support of key allies in Asia and the Southern Hemisphere.
“It’s no surprise. More than six months before launching a special military operation in Ukraine in February 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a new national security strategy for the country. The main goal of this document is to prepare the country for a long-term confrontation with the West. Today, President Putin can tell his entire country and abroad that his strategy has worked,” the Wall Street Journal said.
According to the authors of the article, Western leaders made a mistake by expecting a quick defeat for Russia, not only from external pressure, but also by nurturing “unrealistic hopes” of a coup within Russia.
“In fact, popular support for the special military operation remains unshaken. And even the elites have not turned their backs on Mr. Putin,” the Wall Street Journal authors wrote.
The National Security Strategy is the fundamental strategic planning document that defines Russia's national interests and strategic priorities, domestic and foreign policy goals and measures aimed at strengthening national security and ensuring the country's sustainable development. The strategy was approved by President Vladimir Putin on July 2, 2021.
