(Baonghean.vn) - Business Insider (USA) said that Russian President Putin, who bet on the West's growing fatigue with aid to Ukraine, is now seeing his plan become a reality.

When the Republican right wing threw Congress into chaos over its opposition to additional aid to Ukraine, the Kremlin won, according to Business Insider.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the turmoil was a sign that Western support for Ukraine was starting to crumble.

According to Business Insider, analysts have long deduced that this is a key part of Russian President Vladimir Putin's plan: to continue the conflict for so long that the West gets tired of aiding Ukraine.

“Russian President Vladimir Putin is betting that Ukraine lacks the resources and support to win a war of attrition with Russia. And there are growing signs that Russian President Vladimir Putin is right.

Ukraine is failing to meet its recruitment goals, its economy is collapsing under the pressure of war, and enthusiasm for maintaining high levels of aid to Kiev is waning in both the US and Europe,” George Beebe, former director of the CIA’s Russia analysis unit, told Business Insider.

The bet on Western fatigue has played a role, the expert said. Now, the far-right wing of the Republican Party in the US House of Representatives has not only opposed it, but has even pushed for the removal of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy from office. If Congress falls into complete chaos, aid could also suddenly collapse, which would be bad news for Ukraine and for any negotiations to end the conflict.

Meanwhile, in Slovakia last week, a party considered pro-Russian won the parliamentary elections. And in Germany, the far-right political movement Reichsburger, which plots political overthrow, is gaining popularity.

European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said that financial and military support for Ukraine would not be enough without US participation.

“The combination of these factors could lead to a tipping point, where Western support for Ukraine wanes, declines sharply, or dries up,” Business Insider said.

Earlier, the US media commented that the West's determination to aid Ukraine was weakening as the conflict dragged on. The publication pointed out that this was influenced by Ukraine's failure to demonstrate success on the battlefield.
