June 24, 2017 06:35

On June 23, the Washington Post reported that the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), in a direct report to former President Barack Obama, provided detailed information about Russian President Vladimir Putin directing the Kremlin to interfere in the 2016 US election and help Donald Trump win.

In an investigative report published the same day, the newspaper pointed out the shortcomings of the Obama administration in responding to Russia's threat to American democracy, confirming the existence of a report that asserted "President Putin's direct involvement in a cyberattack campaign aimed at undermining the US presidential election."

According to this newspaper, the Russian President has given instructions to ensure that Mr. Trump will win against Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

The Washington Post added that the CIA report drew on “sources within the senior Russian government” and was considered too sensitive to be included in the President's Daily Brief.

The day after the Washington Post published the above investigative report, Russian President Putin once again denied information that his government interfered in the 2016 US presidential election./.
