Nghe An Newspaper won Third Prize in the National Press Award for Traffic Safety Propaganda

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 27, in Hanoi, the National Traffic Safety Committee held the 2023 Traffic Safety Journalism Awards Ceremony.

Attending the award ceremony were comrade Nguyen Van Thang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Transport, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee.

Also attending were representatives of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of National Defense, Vietnam Journalists Association and leaders of general departments, bureaus and divisions of ministries, together with representatives of central and local press agencies; authors and groups of authors whose works were honored at the award ceremony.

Traffic Safety Journalism AwardThis is an annual activity, held since 2012. This is a meaningful activity contributing to praising, honoring, and promptly rewarding authors and press works that have achieved high value in terms of content, form, impact and positive spread to society in the work of ensuring traffic order and safety and receiving positive response from press agencies across the country.

In 2023, the traffic safety journalism award attracted 516 entries from reporters and groups of reporters from press agencies across the country. Many entries continued to address issues of concern to the whole society, such as handling violations related to alcohol concentration; overloaded vehicles; handling black spots... The press entries proposed and suggested many new solutions to curb and reduce traffic accidents, as well as discovering typical examples, creative models, and good experiences in ensuring traffic order and safety.

The Organizing Committee selected and awarded 54 prizes to groups and individuals with quality entries.

The category of spoken newspapers has 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes, 5 Consolation Prizes; the category of printed newspapers has 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes, 10 Consolation Prizes; the category of electronic newspapers has 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 3 Third Prizes, 15 Consolation Prizes; the category of press photos has 1 First Prize, 2 Consolation Prizes. In addition, the Organizing Committee awarded collective prizes to 3 units with the largest number of entries.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Van Thang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Transport, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee assessed that press works with diverse forms of propaganda have contributed to raising awareness, creating positive changes in the behavior of traffic participants. Thereby forming a traffic culture as well as helping functional agencies to perfect legal regulations and policies as well as improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the task implementation process to reduce traffic accidents, overcome traffic congestion...

He also noted that the number of vehicles continues to increase, while the conditions and capacity of infrastructure are still limited, creating huge challenges for the work of ensuring traffic order and safety. This requires the entire political system to continue to take more drastic and effective actions, and to implement synchronous solutions. In particular, there needs to be the role and contribution of press agencies and journalists in continuing to pay attention, stick together, and join hands with the National Traffic Safety Committee, ministries, branches, and localities in the work of disseminating, popularizing, and educating traffic laws, building a culture of safe traffic for the people, and actively participating in responding to the awards to have more entries, more good works, and win higher prizes.

On this occasion, the National Traffic Safety Committee officially launched the "2024 Traffic Safety Journalism and Propaganda Award".
