Nghe An Newspaper awards 'Golden Moment' photo prize, launches 9th photo contest
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 9, at the Kim Lien National Special Historical Site (Nam Dan district), Nghe An Newspaper held the 8th "Golden Moment" Award Ceremony.
This is an activity within a series of events celebrating the 58th anniversary of Nghe An Newspaper's founding (November 10, 1961 - November 10, 2019).
Attending the award ceremony were comrades: Pham Thi Hong Toan - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nghe An Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee; Tran Duy Ngoan - Chairman of Nghe An Journalists Association; Deputy Editors-in-Chief; authors who entered the final round and all staff and reporters of Nghe An Newspaper.

Before the spirit of President Ho Chi Minh, the collective of cadres, reporters, editors and employees of Nghe An Newspaper vow to constantly strive to improve, continue to study and follow the moral example of President Ho Chi Minh; constantly improve and enhance the quality of publications, build Nghe An Newspaper to develop more and more, worthy of being a heroic unit in Uncle Ho's homeland.

Launched from November 10, 2018 to October 25, 2019, the 8th "Golden Moment" Press Photo Contest received nearly 1,000 entries. The contest aims to improve the quality of photos in Nghe An newspapers, encourage the creative movement of journalists and photographers. At the same time, it creates a spread of images, beautiful and impressive moments about all aspects of the economic and social life of the homeland.

Through the preliminary round, the Jury selected 58 works to enter the final round, marking the 58th anniversary of Nghe An Newspaper's founding.
In the final round, 10 excellent works were honored. Of which, 2 Second prizes (no First prize) went to the works: "Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh kindly visited and encouraged heroic Vietnamese mother Thai Thi Yem in hamlet 5, Thanh Thinh commune (Thanh Chuong)" by author Dao Tuan; "Nghe An's busiest market submerged in water" by author Quang An.

3 Third prizes for the works: "New danger from across the border - Pu Hoat Nature Reserve" by Nhat Lan - Nguyen Hieu; "Sunny day of salt workers" by Nhat Thanh; "Dan Lai woman in Pung village, Mon Son commune (Con Cuong)" by Huu Vi and 5 Encouragement prizes.

At the ceremony, comrade Pham Thi Hong Toan congratulated the award-winning authors and evaluated the works as having demonstrated investment and diligence. The realistic moments of life were brought into the works by the authors very vividly, with passion and creativity, contributing to the development of the province's press.

Also at the ceremony, Comrade Pham Thi Hong Toan launched the 9th Nghe An Newspaper Photo Contest with the theme "Golden Moment", including press photos and video clips. Comrade Editor-in-Chief of Nghe An Newspaper noted that in order for the contest to continue to be a place to satisfy passion, creative aspirations, and a useful playground for professional journalists and those who are passionate about press photos, the Organizing Committee and related departments must really pay more attention to the field of press photos and video clips in publications.
In particular, posting the works participating in the contest well is to encourage and motivate the authors and help viewers fully perceive all the activities of economic and social life taking place through the lens and each moment of each work...

Rules of the 9th photo and video clip contest on Nghe An Newspaper
The contest aims to record events, images, and the most beautiful moments of Nghe An land and people. Contestants are all journalists, collaborators, and those who love press images, regardless of nationality, professional or amateur.
I. Contest conditions
1- For Press Photos:
- Photos capture the most beautiful moments of all activities of Nghe An country and people, with content suitable to Vietnamese culture, traditions, and customs.
- Contest photos sent to Nghe An Newspaper Editorial Office as digital photo files in JPEG format with a minimum capacity of 1.MB or more.
- Photos must be at least 1,920 pixels in size, 300 dpi in resolution, jpg in compression, or larger than 1.MB in size.
- Photos using composite techniques are not accepted (except for adjusting brightness, contrast, sharpness, and color balance).
- Contest photos: Single photo or photo series - photo reportage (reportage no more than 10 photos)
- There is no limit to the number of photos or number of submissions by each author.
- Contest photos must be accompanied by:
+ Name of work
+ Author's real name, address, phone number, email
+ Photos must have clear captions, photo content, time and location taken.
2- For Clip:
- About duration: No more than 5 minutes.
- Topics: Reflections on the fields: Politics, economics, culture, society, security - defense, other life issues...
- Presentation: Clip can be read with or without commentary; short text about the content conveyed; use on-site sounds or background music.
- The work must show the name of the work and the author at the beginning.
- Contest entries must be accompanied by a text commentary (if any).
- Authors whose works are submitted must ensure that the images and music of their works do not infringe copyright.
- There is no limit to the number of entries per author.
II. How to submit entries
All entries must be submitted between November 9, 2019 and October 20, 2020. Qualified entries will be published on Nghe An Newspaper, baonghean.vn and Nghe An Newspaper's youtube channel (royalties will be paid according to regulations).

or save it on a CD by mail (valid photo based on postmark), or directly to the Nghe An Newspaper Editorial Office, No. 3, Le Nin Avenue, Vinh City, Nghe An (on the envelope, write: 9th Nghe An Newspaper Photo Contest).
III. Announcement of competition results
Prize structure: There are 11 prizes:
- One First Prize: 5 million VND/work for press photos; 10 million VND/work for Clips
- Two Second prizes: 3 million VND/work for press photos; 6 million VND/work for Clips
- Three Third Prizes: 2 million VND/work for press photos; 4 million VND/work for Clips
- Five Consolation prizes: 1 million VND/work for press photos; 2 million VND/work for Clips (In addition to cash, winning works will also receive a certificate from the Organizing Committee).
- The jury will select 59 works for the final round to exhibit and issue certificates and pay royalties according to current regulations.
The award ceremony is expected to be held on the anniversary of Nghe An Newspaper's founding in early November 2020.
The Organizing Committee has the right to use images for publication in newspapers, exhibitions, book printing, for propaganda purposes and pay royalties according to current regulations.
The Organizing Committee and the Jury will not resolve any complaints or issues and are not responsible for copyright.
The decision of the Jury is final, and the authors participating in the contest are considered to have complied with these rules.
