Spanish newspaper predicts Premier League dominance
Marca newspaper believes that English clubs are returning to their golden age in Europe like a decade ago.
Four of the five English teams are currently at the top of the Champions League table: Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool and Tottenham. The two Manchester teams have won all four matches, and only PSG have done the same. Tottenham also just had a 3-1 victory over champions Real Madrid.
"10 years since the last all-English Champions League final, the same thing could happen again in the 2017-2018 season," Marca analyzed. "Guardiola and Mourinho's teams played as if they were defending, not conquering, the title."

Man Utd, Tottenham and Man City are playing well in the Champions League |
Of the four Premier League teams holding the top spot, two have already secured their tickets to the next round, Man City and Tottenham. Man Utd are also almost in the round of 16. If they get at least one point from their remaining two matches, Jose Mourinho and his team will secure their ticket.
The English success is a contrast to what La Liga has shown. The tournament that has dominated European cups for the past four years is showing signs of slowing down. Atletico are in danger of being eliminated early. Real Madrid and Sevilla are second in the group, but appear to be inferior to the two English teams, Tottenham and Liverpool.
Barca is the only team currently holding the top spot, but after winning the 2014-2015 championship, the Nou Camp team has not entered the semi-finals of this tournament again.
"La Liga has become accustomed to monopolizing the Champions League," the Madrid-based daily wrote. "This dominance is about to pass into history, making way for the return of the Premier League. Four English teams reached the quarter-finals in the 2007-2008 season, and this season, that number could increase to five."
The possibility of a big clash between English and Spanish football in the knockout stages is very high. Four English clubs are at the top of the table, with one team in second place. In contrast, La Liga has two teams in second place and one team in first place.
