(Baonghean) - Talking with Mr. Mong Van Tinh - Khmu ethnic group, Que Phong District Youth Union official, candidate for the 14th National Assembly.

PV:As a local union official, still very young (born in 1988), what do you feel when you are introduced to run for the 14th National Assembly?

- Candidate Mong Van Tinh:I feel very honored to be nominated by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Nghe An province to run for the 14th National Assembly. Although I am young, I am not too surprised by that, because in the composition of the National Assembly, there is always a certain proportion for the youth to speak up and express their wishes, bringing the enthusiasm, ability and intelligence of the youth to contribute ideas in building and developing the country. I am also very proud to be the only candidate representing the Khmu ethnic group of Nghe An province.

PV:If you are elected by voters to become a National Assembly delegate, what issues will you focus on in your action program?

- If elected, I will try to fulfill my responsibilities as a National Assembly delegate and keep in regular contact with the people, especially the voters where I run, to grasp the situation and listen to the opinions and aspirations of voters to convey to the National Assembly forum as well as to the competent authorities.

As a youth union official, I will strive to fulfill my responsibility to protect the rights and legitimate demands of young people. I will focus on making recommendations to the National Assembly and competent authorities to address issues related to the young generation.

In particular, I am interested in the issue of employment for rural youth and ethnic minority youth in mountainous districts. According to my understanding, currently the number of young people working far from their hometown in localities, especially mountainous districts, is quite large.

They mainly go to cities, industrial zones, and urban areas to look for jobs. However, the vast majority of jobs are unstable, with unstable incomes, due to low education levels, limited social relationships, and limited access to and use of modern labor tools, so they can only do simple, piecemeal jobs with low wages, and a difficult, makeshift life. Enterprises do not consider rural youth as a key labor force, so they are not enthusiastic and trustworthy enough to provide financial support for production and business activities.

I will focus on recommending that the State continue to improve policies and focus on vocational training for rural youth, helping them improve their scientific and technical knowledge, management skills, and market knowledge to choose suitable careers. I recommend that the State continue to mobilize from many resources to increase capital for the National Fund to support employment for rural youth; invest adequate budget to expand the vocational training network, popularize vocational training for youth, and support young rural entrepreneurs.

PV:Do you have any suggestions for your fellow ethnic people in particular and ethnic minorities in general?

- As a Khmu ethnic minority, born in a poor mountainous area, I will bring my concerns to propose investment policies for ethnic minorities to improve their living conditions, especially focusing more on rural infrastructure such as transportation, irrigation, electricity, schools, healthcare, clean water; the issues of early marriage and incestuous marriage. Along with that, I will encourage people to clearly understand and grasp the Party's policies and the State's laws; arouse the will to rise in each person, push back the mindset of waiting and relying on the State's support, and be determined to escape poverty...

PV:Thank you!
