Spring newspapers bloom on Ho Chi Minh City book street

More than 150 newspapers and magazines from Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country are displayed at the 2016 Spring Newspaper Street from January 25 to 31.

With the desire to create a playground for newspaper and magazine products to converge, show off their colors to welcome spring and bring readers the most comprehensive picture of spring newspapers, the Department of Information and Communications in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association and the Southern Office, the Vietnam Publishing Association organized the Spring Newspaper Road 2016 event.

|Mr. Dao Van Lung - Head of the Department, Head of the Central Propaganda Department's permanent office in Ho Chi Minh City and Mr. Nguyen Quang Thong, Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, looked at the beautifully presented spring newspaper pages. Sharing the reason for organizing the 2016 spring newspaper street at Ho Chi Minh City book street, Mr. Lung said: "The book street is a cultural project of the city. Therefore, there is no place more suitable to organize the spring newspaper festival than the book street. Readers coming here can read both books and newspapers".

Many newspapers and magazines are participating in the Spring Newspaper Contest. The jury will award 16 prizes including 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes and 10 consolation prizes. The results will be announced before the Lunar New Year.

Young people are excited to read the spring newspapers. A student from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education shared: "I have a habit of buying a lot of spring newspapers to read gradually during Tet. Each newspaper and magazine gathers quality, well-invested articles, giving me a lot of knowledge."

Newspaper Street also has an area to display old spring newspapers. This is a way to help readers see clearly part of the development path of Vietnamese journalism.
