Barca win big after being down two goals

Having not lost to Barca at Anoeta since 2007, Sociedad were confident in playing an open game from the first half. Coach Eusebio Sacristan's team also took advantage of their opportunities better in the first 45 minutes. In the 11th minute, from a cross from the right wing, Willian Jose dived to head the ball, causing it to bounce off the ground before flying into Barca's goal, creating the opening goal.

Not stopping at a 1-0 lead, Sociedad continued to bring excitement to home fans by doubling the gap in the 34th minute. This time, after escaping from a high pass from midfield, Juanmi fired a low shot that hit Sergi Roberto's foot and changed direction, defeating goalkeeper Ter Stegen.

When the clock struck the 71st minute, from Thomas Vermaelen's header in the middle of the field, Suarez seized the opportunity to shoot into the near corner, fooling goalkeeper Geromino Rulli to raise the score to 3-2.

Falling behind after leading by two goals, Sociedad woke up but could not save the situation. The home team could only make a few more shots but could not beat Ter Stegen.

Not only could they not equalize, Sociedad also lost after Messi's wonderful free kick in the 85th minute. From a distance of about 25 meters, M10 kicked the ball over the wall and into the net while goalkeeper Rulli could only stand and watch.

This is Messi's 20th goal in the first 19 rounds of La Liga 2017-2018. The Argentine star is currently leading the race for the Golden Boot, 16 goals ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The win over Sociedad extended Barca's unbeaten run in La Liga to 16 wins and three draws. The leaders also restored a nine-point lead over second-placed Atletico, not to mention a 19-point lead over reigning champions Real Madrid.
