Arrested 12 suspects in the illegal fuel chip trafficking ring
The suspects produced and colluded to sell electronic chips to help two gas stations in Hanoi defraud customers of billions of dong in gasoline.

On the afternoon of January 1, the Department of Investigation Police on Economic Management and Position Crimes (PC46, Hanoi City Police) announced that it had initiated a case and urgently arrested 12 suspects in a chain of chip trading and fuel fraud at two gas stations on Tran Khat Chan Street (Hai Ba Trung District) and a gas station in Yen Vien Town (Gia Lam District, both in Hanoi).
On December 31, the police agency issued an emergency arrest warrant for four suspects: Le Duc Phong (39 years old, in Long Bien District) and Ngo Duc Toan (36 years old, in Bac Tu Liem District) for producing and selling electronic chips. Ho Trong Tuan (42 years old, in Nam Tu Liem District, head of the market department of Hanoi Petroleum and Fuel Joint Stock Company) and Nguyen Ba Tung (36 years old, in Tay Ho District) are employees of Tran Khat Chan gas station.
According to investigation documents, in 2014, Phong and Toan produced and sold 3 electronic chips to Tran Khat Chan gas station for 25 million VND/set.
At the time of the inspection, the amount of money collected from the gasoline fraud of customers at Tran Khat Chan gas station was up to several billion dong.
On October 20, 2015, Trinh (the manager of a gas station in Yen Vien town) hired a man named Tuan Anh to install a chip to steal fuel from customers. By the time the authorities inspected the store, it had fraudulently sold 4,500 liters of fuel and 3,000 liters of gasoline.
Previously, the police also arrested 8 employees and leaders of the two gas stations mentioned above, including: Luong Thi Van (47 years old); Hoang Nghia Quan (33 years old); Do Thi Luong Ha (46 years old, both in Hai Ba Trung District); Nguyen Thi Minh Phuong (53 years old, in Hoan Kiem District); Tran Thi Minh Thu (44 years old, in Ba Dinh District); Nguyen Thi Hong Hanh (50 years old, in Hoang Mai District); Truong Quoc Cuong (34 years old, in Hoan Kiem District); Tran Thanh Trinh (36 years old, in Bac Tu Liem).
Currently, the Investigation Police Agency - Hanoi City Police is consolidating the case file to clarify the fraudulent behavior of the suspects.
