Two investigators arrested in shocking wrongful conviction case.
The investigative agency of the Supreme People's Procuracy has issued a decision to initiate a criminal case, indict the suspects, and order the temporary detention of two officials involved in the Nguyen Thanh Chan case.
The two officials who have just been charged and taken into custody are Tran Nhat Luat and Dang The Vinh.
Both individuals were charged with "intentionally falsifying case records" under Article 300 of the Penal Code.

It is known that prior to his arrest, Mr. Tran Nhat Luat held the position of Deputy Head of the Viet Yen District Police (Bac Giang). Mr. Luat was the lead investigator in the case of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chan.
As for Mr. Dang The Vinh, before his arrest, he was the Head of Department 10, Bac Giang Provincial People's Procuracy; he was the chief prosecutor handling the wrongful conviction case of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chan.
It is known that, in addition to Mr. Tran Nhat Luat, six other investigators were involved in this case.
These include Mr. Thai Xuan Dung (former Deputy Head of the Investigation Agency, Deputy Head of the Criminal Investigation Department of Bac Giang Province, currently serving as Chief Inspector of the Bac Giang Provincial Police); Mr. Le Van Dung (former Deputy Head of the Criminal Investigation Department of Bac Giang Province, currently Head of the Drug Crime Investigation Department of Bac Giang Province); Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dung (currently Deputy Head of the Luc Nam District Police, Bac Giang Province); Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh (currently Deputy Head of the Party Affairs and Mass Mobilization Department, Bac Giang Provincial Police); and an investigator named Tan (deceased), who directly participated in and commanded the investigation of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chan's case.
