Arrested 4 suspects running a 1,000 billion online gambling ring

Authorities have just arrested four suspects, including a foreigner who is the leader of a large-scale online gambling ring in Vietnam.

On the morning of December 22, the High-Tech Crime Prevention Police Department (C50) and the Criminal Police Department (C45), Ministry of Public Security, arrested Wong Boon Leong (aka Lawrence, 36 years old, Singaporean nationality) and 3 Vietnamese suspects involved in organizing an online gambling ring: Nguyen Thi Kim Cuc (29 years old), Nguyen Van Nam (33 years old) and Vo Dang Thanh Trung (31 years old).

During a search of Wong Boon Leong's residence, authorities seized many devices, bank transaction receipts, etc. used to operate the Internet gambling system.

Wong Boon Leong entered Vietnam 2 years ago. During this time, Wong set up and operated an online gambling system with a server located in the Philippines.

With many forms of betting on football, horse racing, dog racing..., this online gambling line has attracted many gamblers to participate and open accounts with the amount of money discovered at the time of arrest being nearly 1,000 billion VND.
