Three foreigners arrested for transporting 60 blocks of heroin.
Upon inspecting the vehicle with Lao license plates, the police discovered 60 packages of white powder suspected to be heroin and 60 nylon bags containing pink tablets (approximately 12,000 tablets) suspected to be synthetic drugs hidden in the fuel tank under the driver's seat. During questioning, the suspects initially confessed that the heroin was being transported from Laos to Vietnam for sale.
On the morning of August 6th, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Public Security held a ceremony to commend and reward five units that directly participated in the seizure of 60 blocks of heroin. These units included: Department 1 and Department 2 (Department of Criminal Investigation of Drug Crimes - C47, Ministry of Public Security), the Drug Crime Prevention Department (Border Guard Command), PC47 Department (Hoa Binh Provincial Police), and Tan Lac District Police (Hoa Binh Province). Each unit received a reward of 10,000,000 VND.
According to a report from Department C47, at 10:20 AM on August 5, 2012, the Anti-Drug Department (Border Guard Command) and Department C47 detected three Lao nationals entering Vietnam in a 7-seater car with Lao license plates, suspected of transporting drugs. The leaders of Department C47 immediately directed the Anti-Drug Department and coordinated with the Tan Lac District Police (Hoa Binh province) to send officers to cooperate in the investigation.
At 1:30 PM on the same day, the task force located the vehicle in Quy Hau commune, Tan Lac district (Hoa Binh province). The task force requested the vehicle to stop for inspection and found three Lao nationals inside: Lee Chia Neng (born in 1978, residing in Vientiane), Boun Miher Khamtong (born in 1989, residing in Hua Phan province), and Ly Chue Sor (born in 1974, residing in Vientiane).
