On October 30th, the Phu Giao District Police in Binh Duong province announced that they have initiated a criminal case and temporarily detained three young men for investigation into the crime of "theft of property," namely: Tran Huu Tien (24 years old); Nguyen Lua and Tran Ngoc Luc (both 22 years old), all residing in Binh Phuoc province.
According to initial investigations, at approximately 11 PM on October 13th, the three young men climbed over the wall into the house of Mr. Nguyen Van Long, residing in Ward 3, Phuoc Vinh town, Phu Giao district, to steal property. Mr. Long is currently the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Giao district.
Upon arriving at Mr. Long's house, Luc stood outside as a lookout while Lua and Tien broke into the house through the ventilation window. At this time, Mr. Long's entire family was fast asleep, so the thieves ransacked the house, stealing many valuable items such as: 4 mobile phones, 3 taels of 18k gold, 11 million dong in cash, and some other valuables.
After receiving the report, the Phu Giao District Police examined the scene and identified the suspects, subsequently arresting the three young men mentioned above.
Speaking to reporters on October 30, Mr. Nguyen Van Long said that "nothing happened" and that no one in his family was injured or suffered any health problems during the theft.
The Phu Giao District Police stated that the incident had sufficient elements to constitute a crime, therefore they have initiated a criminal case and charged the suspects for further investigation.
