Gang arrested for hollowing out pumpkins to hide drugs and bring them to epidemic areas
Police have just arrested a group of people who stuffed 3 kg of drugs into pumpkins and brought them to Hai Duong to sell.
Colonel Pham Minh Hai, Head of the Criminal Police Department, Hai Duong Provincial Police, informed that the unit has just coordinated with Gia Loc District Police to arrest a gang trafficking and transporting large quantities of drugs.

According to intelligence information, around the end of July and beginning of August, Nguyen Van Phong (born in 1984, residing in Bang Lai village, Ngu Phuc commune, Kim Thanh district) appeared in the area, regularly leading a group of young people to buy drugs in Son La and then bring them to Hai Duong for consumption.
The methods of this group of subjects are very sophisticated. They often change the time, means of transport, transportation route, contact phone number, delivery location...
The Hai Duong Provincial Police Department directed the Criminal Police Department to establish a special investigation project against these subjects.

Taking advantage of the fact that the Hai Duong Provincial Police force was focusing on fighting the epidemic and implementing social distancing, the above group transported a large amount of drugs to the area.
In the early morning of August 15, at the Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway Toll Station, in Gia Loc town, Gia Loc district, the working group of the Criminal Police Department coordinated with Gia Loc district police to inspect the car with license plate 29C-29672 driven by Nguyen Tien Dung (born 1992).
At the time of inspection, the car also contained Tran Van Ba (born 1992) and 3 unusual pumpkins.
Receiving 3 pumpkins, the detectives discovered 3 kg of synthetic drugs hidden inside.

At the police station, Phong confessed that he directly bought drugs from a man named Nguyen Van Tuan (born in 1992), residing in Tay Hung village, Chieng Hac commune, Moc Chau district, Son La province.
They often hid drugs in bags of rice, corn, firewood, etc. to avoid detection during transportation. After bringing them to Hai Duong, Phong divided the drugs into smaller quantities to sell to other key contacts in the province and neighboring localities.
