According to forecasts, storm No. 2 will not make landfall in the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh until the early morning of July 17, but since the afternoon of July 16, Cua Lo sea area has had big waves and rough seas.
However, according to records, at 3:00 p.m. on July 16, along the 10km long Cua Lo beach and in the Cua Hoi area, there were still many people and tourists swimming. Not only adults but also children were playing carefree with the waves, regardless of the danger.
Many tourists enjoy the thrill of the big waves crashing in. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu, 32 years old, from Hung Yen province, said that her group of tourists had 12 people. Because the hotel reservation was made before the tropical depression intensified into storm No. 2, it could not be canceled. "Although we knew it could be dangerous, we had already come here and could not not swim in the sea," Ms. Thu said.

Along Cua Lo beach, rescue forces were assigned to remind tourists not to swim in unsafe sea areas. Along with that, there were warning flags "Rough sea, no swimming" and the public address system of the wards along the beach continuously broadcast the movement of storm No. 2 and warning of danger.
Mr. Nguyen Doan Phung - Director of the Rescue Center of Cua Lo town said that the town recommends that tourists absolutely do not swim in the sea before the storm makes landfall.
“There was a group of tourists from Cao Bang who came to Cua Lo and said they were eager to swim in the sea because it was their first time swimming in salt water, but we advised them not to swim in the sea because this is the time when the sea is rough, the waves are big, and it is potentially dangerous to their lives,” said Mr. Phung./.
