Despite sanctions, Nord Stream 2 is 95% complete

"As of March 31, 2,339 km of the total 2,460 km of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, equivalent to 95%, have been installed. Currently, the remaining length of the gas pipeline is about 121 km (5%)" - Nord Stream 2 AG said.
Previously, at the end of January 2021, about 148 km of pipelines had yet to be completed, of which 120 km were located in Danish territorial waters, and about 28 km in Germany and several other countries.
According to Nord Stream 2 AG, a Russian pipe-laying vessel entered Danish territorial waters in the Baltic on March 31 to prepare for construction of the unfinished section of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. Another Russian pipe-laying vessel, Fortuna, is currently participating in the construction of a gas pipeline in Danish territorial waters.
The US has long criticized the project and threatened to sanction companies involved in its construction. On his first trip to Europe since taking office, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken declared on March 23 that the Russia-Germany Nord Stream 2 project was “terrible.”
