Installation of Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline begins in Russian waters

The special pipeline laying vessel Solitaire has started work on laying the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline in Russian waters, the project operator Nord Stream 2 AG announced.

“Today, the Solitaire vessel will begin laying the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline in Russian waters. The 100 km of the first branch of the pipeline in Russian territorial waters will be laid within a month,” the press release said.

The length of the offshore section of the gas pipeline in Russia is about 114 km.

Construction of the gas pipeline along the Russian and German coasts continues on schedule. In addition, the Pioneering Spirit is laying pipelines in Swedish waters. More than 1,100 km of pipeline have been laid so far, as Nord Stream 2 has announced.
