Chinese man arrested for breaking into house and stealing more than half a billion dong

Hu Jie (born in 1979), has a criminal record, resides in Guangxi province, China, broke in and stole many properties and cash worth more than 540 million VND from Mr. NVH.

Eleven days after committing the theft, Hu Jie re-entered Vietnam and was detained by authorities and handed over to Thanh Xuan District Police, Hanoi.

On June 2, the Investigation Police Agency of Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi, announced that they were temporarily detaining Hu Jie (born in 1979), with a criminal record, residing in Guangxi Province, China, for theft of property, and were expanding the investigation to clarify related subjects.

Subject Hu Jie pointed out where he broke into people's houses to steal property.

Through documents from the investigation agency, on May 14, Thanh Xuan District Police received a complaint from Mr. NVH, residing in Nhan Chinh Ward, Thanh Xuan District, about a burglary that broke into his house and stole many properties and cash worth more than 540 million VND.

Immediately after that, Thanh Xuan District Police conducted an investigation, checked the camera system around the scene, and by professional measures, the Criminal Police Team (Thanh Xuan District Police) identified the suspect who used the yellow-black Yamaha Sirius motorbike as a means of transportation when committing the crime as Hu Jie. Verifying at the Immigration Department - Ministry of Public Security, the Investigation Agency discovered that Hu Jie had left for China via Mong Cai International Border Gate on the morning of May 15.

Based on the investigation documents, Thanh Xuan District Police sent a dispatch requesting the Border Gate Department and Border Guard to provide images and the entry and exit process of Hu Jie. If the subject is discovered entering Vietnam, they will keep him and immediately notify the Thanh Xuan District Police Investigation Agency. On May 26, Thanh Xuan District Police received a notice from the Border Guard Station - Mong Cai International Border Gate that Hu Jie had just entered Vietnam and had received him to investigate and clarify the case.

At the police station, Hu Jie confessed that on the morning of May 12, he entered Vietnam through Mong Cai International Border Gate, Quang Ninh and bought a motorbike for 12 million VND. After that, Hu Jie drove the motorbike back to Hanoi. That same evening, he rented a room at a motel on Tran Duy Hung Street and made an appointment to have dinner with a Chinese friend who was in Hanoi...

During this meeting, Hu Jie's friend suggested and showed Hu Jie a family with a lot of money to steal property. The Chinese friend sent the entire map with the navigation system of the route and path for Hu Jie to go to the crime scene.

The following evening, Hu Jie followed the map to the house to scout the terrain. At around 3:00 p.m. on May 14, taking advantage of the homeowner's absence, Hu Jie brought a bag containing a door-breaking tool and a master key that his friend gave him to break the iron door lock and pry open the wooden door of the house.

After breaking the door, the subject went straight into the bedroom, used an iron bar to break the safe, rummaged through the cabinet to steal money and property and then escaped.

That same evening, Hu Jie returned to the motel to check out, left his motorbike there and made an appointment to come back a week later to pick it up. Then, Hu Jie and his friend took a bus from Hanoi to Mong Cai.

Here, the two agreed to split 400 million VND, 2,000 USD, 300 Euro, and Hu Jie kept the jewelry, watches, and gold rings. On the morning of May 15, HJ returned home and it is unknown where his friend is.

Currently, the subject Hu Jie has handed over the stolen property including 3 women's wristwatches, Swarovski brand, 1 iPhone 6s mobile phone, 2 gold rings with diamonds and 19,000 yuan to the Thanh Xuan District Police Investigation Agency.
