Arrest of wanted fugitive in Lam Dong for 8 years, sent to Nghe An for sentencing
(Baonghean.vn) - Taking advantage of being released on bail for medical treatment, Xan escaped without returning to the investigation agency to present himself when his health was stable. After 8 years of living in seclusion in Lam Dong, the subject has just been arrested.
On the afternoon of March 10, the Investigation Police Department of Nghi Loc District Police announced that the unit had just coordinated with Di Linh District Police (Lam Dong) to arrest Ma Chanh Xan (born in 1991), residing in Di Linh District, Lam Dong Province, who was wanted by this agency for "Theft of property" in 2012.
According to the investigation agency, on the night of February 10, 2012, Ma Chanh Xan broke into Mr. Nguyen Van Hoi's house in Hamlet 2, Nghi Long Commune (Nghi Loc) and stole 3 million VND and 6 phone cards with a face value of 50,000 VND. The subject was discovered by the people, arrested and handed over to Nghi Loc District Police for handling.

During his detention, Ma Chanh Xan fell ill and his family asked him to be released on bail for treatment. Later, Nghi Loc District Police sent a summons when his health was stable to continue the investigation. However, Xan escaped. On September 5, 2012, Nghi Loc District Police Department issued a wanted notice for Ma Chanh Xan. As for Xan, after escaping, he did various jobs such as forest work and fishing on the river to avoid being caught by the investigation agency.
To conduct a screening, verification and focus on arresting wanted subjects inside and outside Nghi Loc district, Nghi Loc district police have developed a plan, divided into 6 working groups to mobilize, verify and arrest wanted subjects. Ma Chanh Xan is one of them.
Through professional work, Nghi Loc District Police got information that Ma Chanh Xan was hiding in a mountain pass area in Lam Dong Province. During the verification process, the working group encountered many difficulties because Xan's whereabouts were not fixed. Sometimes the subject went to the forest, sometimes went fishing for long days on the river.
After a period of monitoring the forest edge area bordering Di Linh and Duc Trong districts, Lam Dong province, and Khanh Son district, Khanh Hoa province, on February 4, the task force discovered Ma Chanh Xan appearing with a backpack and a knife to go into the forest. The task force immediately controlled and arrested the subject so that he could not resist.
Currently, Ma Chanh Xan is being detained to continue investigating the subject's property theft in 2012.
