After escaping, Cho wandered deep into the forest, eating wild vegetables to survive. Then, he wandered to Xieng Khouang province (Laos). In early December 2019, after verifying the source, Lau Ba Cho was staying in a shack at a construction site in Xieng Khouang province (Laos). Determining this was the right time to arrest this wanted subject. Because this subject had used a gun to fiercely fight back against the authorities, the Ky Son District Police made scientific and careful calculations with the determination to arrest the subject while still ensuring the safety of the arresting force without alarming the people.
The most experienced detectives and investigators of Ky Son District Police were ordered to go to Laos. On the night of December 12, taking advantage of the rain, the detectives cut through the forest, approached Cho's shack, and set up an ambush to wait for the right moment. When Lau Ba Cho's shack had turned off the lights and gone to sleep, from their ambush positions, the detectives rushed in, knocked down and restrained Cho, leaving him unable to fight back. He bowed his head in silence because he knew more than anyone else that his journey of hiding for more than 3 long years had ended. Immediately after that, the Ky Son District Police transferred Lau Ba Cho to the unit headquarters.
Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Ky Son District Police is completing the file to handle the subject Lau Ba Cho according to the provisions of the law.
