According to the investigation, on the afternoon of February 3 (29th of Tet), Ms. Tram (30 years old) was cleaning her house on Nguyen Van Yen Street (Tan Thoi Hoa Ward) to prepare for the New Year when a man driving a GrabBike came and gave her a paper box with a gift written on it.

Ms. Tram opened it and saw a karaoke microphone (worth about 100,000 VND). Turning it on but not seeing any light, she picked up her 3-year-old son and plugged the microphone into the power source. The "gift" suddenly exploded, causing her and her son to be hospitalized with burns, the walls of the house were scorched, and the air was filled with the smell of chemicals.

Examining the scene, the police found a metal box, many electrical circuits, and some remaining explosives... The Grab driver said he received a request to take a ride to Street 34, Binh Tri Dong Ward. Upon arrival, a young man in a car asked him to deliver a "gift package" to Ms. Tram's address and then pay the fare.

Mr. Nghia (36 years old, Chi Tram's husband) said that his family did not order this product, and no one he knew had given it to him. Recently, he asked his friend to lend him 80 million VND for a long time but was unsuccessful, and the two sides argued loudly. Two days before the incident, Mr. Nghia continued to ask his friend to pay so that his family could celebrate Tet, but Luu Van Tin (his friend's younger brother) rudely intervened and threatened the creditor.

The investigation focused on Tin. His identity was similar to the person who paid the GrabBike to deliver the goods. At the time of the incident, he was away from home and only returned at night. Searching Tin's house, the police seized many explosives, electric wires, bomb-making tools, metal cans... similar to the evidence collected at the scene of the explosion.

Working with the investigation agency, Tin admitted his actions. He said that because he was angry that Mr. Nghia came to his house to collect debt and yelled at his mother, he had the intention of revenge.

Tin used to be an electrician and knew about electronic devices and detonating explosives remotely. He took a karaoke microphone he had bought earlier, mixed explosives and installed them in it, and used another phone to order a Grab delivery. He threw away this phone to destroy the evidence.

Tram and her child suffered nearly 20% burns, not life-threatening.
