Arrested couple for forging land books, embezzling nearly 20 billion VND
Through social networks, a couple in Dong Nai ordered 11 fake land use right certificates, signed fake contracts to appropriate nearly 20 billion VND and then fled.
On January 16, the Criminal Police Department of Dong Nai Province Police informed that the authorities had arrested the couple Tran Thanh Binh (born in 1972) and Nguyen Thi Thanh Nguyet (born in 1979) after they had been on the run since late 2023.
These two were arrested for Fraudulent Appropriation of Property and Using Forged Documents of Agencies and Organizations.
According to the investigation agency, in 2018, through social networks, Binh and Nguyet ordered the forgery of 11 certificates of land use rights, house ownership rights and other assets attached to land to mortgage and sign fake contracts to appropriate a total amount of more than 19.7 billion VND from a number of people.
Through the process of collecting documents, consolidating records and evidence, Dong Nai Provincial Police decided to initiate criminal proceedings.

On September 12, 2023, the police agency prosecuted and executed an arrest warrant against Nguyen Thi Thanh Nguyet and Tran Thanh Binh to investigate and clarify the acts of Fraudulent appropriation of property and Use of fake documents of agencies and organizations.
However, Binh and his wife escaped together and were wanted by Dong Nai Province Police.
On January 14, the Criminal Police Department of Dong Nai Province Police discovered Binh and Nguyet hiding in Ward 9, Da Lat City, Lam Dong Province, and immediately deployed forces to arrest them.
The case is being further investigated and clarified by the Criminal Police Department of Dong Nai Province Police.
