Previously, from July 10 to 15, Nam met and threatened the owner of a livestock farm in Dak Mil district, forcing the farm to directly give and transfer 8 million VND to Nam, otherwise he would write and post an article reflecting the violations.
On July 17, the Dak Mil District Police Department issued an emergency detention order for Trinh Phuong Nam to investigate and clarify the act of extortion, and searched his workplace.
During the inspection, the police seized 2 mobile phones, 1 laptop, 1 journalist card, 3 collaborator cards all bearing the name Trinh Phuong Nam, along with a number of other related documents and objects.
Initially, Nam confessed to all his crimes and admitted that he had a press card because he asked someone else to help him.
