On the afternoon of February 20, the Investigation Police Agency of Tan Chau District Police (Tay Ninh) arrested 15 subjects in a large-scale stolen vehicle theft and consumption ring led by Dang Van An (29 years old).

An's powerful accomplices include Pham Hoai Han (23 years old), Nguyen Quoc Cuong (20 years old, all living in Tan Bien district); Pham Van Tam (22 years old), Phan Van Bao (20 years old), Nguyen Thoi Toi (19 years old), Tran Minh Tri (22 years old), Nguyen Van Hung (27 years old), Trinh Quoc Huy (27 years old), Do Hoai Phong (20 years old), Tran Minh Chien (30 years old) and Le Xuan Thao (24 years old, all living in Tan Chau district).

Subjects at the police station

Through surveillance of the area, Tan Chau District Police discovered a group of subjects with signs of theft and inter-provincial vehicle sales, so they established a special project to fight them.

According to the plan to solve the case, in Tan Kien hamlet, Tan Ha commune, Tan Chau district, the district police coordinated with Tan Ha Border Guard Station to secretly catch Dang Van An, Nguyen Viet Thu (26 years old) and Nguyen Viet Nghia (19 years old, both living in Tan Ha commune) transporting motorbikes with license plates 59G2-134.96, 38X1-290.48, and 64D1-362.57 to Cambodia for sale.

Expanding the investigation, Tan Chau District Police arrested and urgently searched the related subjects including: Tam, Bao, Toi, Han, Tri, Hung, Huy, Phong, Chien, Thao, Cuong and Nguyen Duc Minh (28 years old, residing in Tan Dong Commune, Tan Chau). The seized evidence included 8 motorbikes and 1 bag of synthetic drugs.

The group confessed that this line started operating in November 2017. An colluded with Thu to hire Nghia, Han, Tri, and Cuong to transport vehicles for them to sell in Cambodia for 1 million VND/vehicle. An bought stolen vehicles in Binh Duong province for 4 to 9.5 million VND/vehicle, then brought them to Cambodia to resell for 8.5 to 12 million VND/vehicle.

In addition, An also colluded with Tam, Bao, Toi, Hung, Huy, Phong, and Thao to often run together on the roads in industrial parks and residential areas to look for property to steal.

On the way, if they found any motorbikes or valuables that were unattended or any houses that were unoccupied, they would assign people to guard the road, some would stop them and chase them if they were discovered, the rest would directly sneak into the house and use tools to break in and steal the property. After stealing, they would transport the stolen property hidden in Chien's house. After a few days, An would bring it to Cambodia to sell. With the money, An would buy synthetic drugs to bring back to the motel for the group to use, and at the same time, divide the remaining money to spend.

Tan Chau District Police initially determined that this ring had successfully carried out 7 thefts and sold 20 motorbikes across provinces. Tan Chau District Police are continuing to expand the investigation into the case.
