Arrest of 2 suspected fire leopards on a car with Lao license plate
(Baonghean.vn) -At 6:00 a.m. this morning, January 18, the Anti-Smuggling Team of the Economic and Official Crime Investigation Police Department of the Provincial Police (PC46) coordinated with the Dien Chau Traffic Police Station and Mobile Ranger Team No. 1, Nghe An Forest Rangers to conduct an administrative inspection of a passenger car with a Lao license plate and discovered 2 individuals suspected to be fire leopards that had been shot dead.
The car with Lao license plate UN - 6688 was driven by Nguyen Van Hao (residing in Dien Lien, Dien Chau), the owner of the car was Vo Van Thinh (residing in Dien Thap, Dien Chau).
Upon inspection, the authorities discovered two dead animals weighing 22kg and 43kg of animal bones (the type of animal bones has not been determined). The two dead animals were hidden in the passenger bus. According to the forest rangers' sensory determination, these were two leopards - a group 1B animal - an endangered species that needs to be protected.

Currently, the suspect Hao and the car have been handed over to the Economic and Official Crime Investigation Police Department of the Provincial Police for investigation and clarification. The two suspected fire leopards and the animal bones are being preserved by Mobile Forest Ranger Team No. 1 to determine the species.
