Arrest of 2 suspected fire leopards on a car with Lao license plate

(Baonghean.vn) -At 6:00 a.m. this morning, January 18, the Anti-Smuggling Team of the Economic and Official Crime Investigation Police Department of the Provincial Police (PC46) coordinated with the Dien Chau Traffic Police Station and Mobile Ranger Team No. 1, Nghe An Forest Rangers to conduct an administrative inspection of a passenger car with a Lao license plate and discovered two individuals suspected of being fire leopards that had been shot dead.

The car with Lao license plate UN - 6688 was driven by Nguyen Van Hao (residing in Dien Lien, Dien Chau), the owner of the car was Vo Van Thinh (residing in Dien Thap, Dien Chau).

Through inspection, the authorities discovered 2 dead animals weighing 22kg and 43kg of animal bones (the type of animal bones has not been clearly identified). The 2 dead animals were hidden in the passenger bus. According to the sensory determination of the forest rangers, these were 2 leopards - group 1B animals - an endangered group that needs to be protected.






Objects and exhibits.

Currently, the suspect Hao and the car have been handed over to the Economic and Official Crime Investigation Police Department of the Provincial Police for investigation and clarification. The two suspected fire leopards and the above animal bones are being preserved by Mobile Forest Ranger Team No. 1 to determine their species.
