Arrested 20 gamblers betting on online cockfighting

Police suddenly raided and arrested 20 gamblers who were betting on online cockfighting, temporarily confiscating nearly 100 million VND and many items related to the incident.

On September 24, Team 5 of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department of Investigation of Social Order Crimes (PC45) announced that it had just dismantled an online cockfighting gambling den in My Hoa Hamlet, Trung Chanh Commune, Hoc Mon District, Ho Chi Minh City.

Here, the authorities caught 20 people gambling, confiscating 16 million VND in cash, 2 TV screens and many betting devices. They also seized more than 73 million VND, 18 mobile phones and 10 motorbikes from the gamblers.

Every day, two TV screens are connected to the internet to show cockfights for gamblers to bet on.

This place is organized by Nguyen Be Bay (30 years old, residing in Trung Chanh commune, Hoc Mon). Every day, Bay sets up 2 TV screens connected to the internet to show online cockfighting matches from foreign countries, mainly Cambodia and the Philippines, for gamblers to watch and place bets.

To organize cockfighting, Bay hired 2 more people to help receive and share betting money, each person was paid 200,000 VND/day.

Authorities are currently expanding their investigation into the case.
