Four individuals arrested in transnational drug trafficking ring.

The Vinh City Police (Nghe An province), in coordination with relevant units, have successfully cracked a case, dismantling a transnational drug trafficking ring, arresting four suspects, and seizing over 28,207 synthetic drug pills and other related evidence.

Previously, through intelligence gathering, the city police discovered that several individuals from other localities were residing in the area and showed suspicious signs related to drug-related offenses. Among them, Tran The Hung stood out as someone who directly connected with foreign individuals to purchase large quantities of drugs, which he then supplied to drug "retail outlets" domestically.

With the determination to prevent drugs from infiltrating from outside, we are building...areas "free from drugs"To concentrate forces and resources on dismantling this transnational drug trafficking ring, the Vinh City Police reported to the provincial police leadership to establish a special investigation case.

Tran The Hung (born 1990), residing in Pho Chau town, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province, is a heavy drug addict who is very sophisticated in his illegal drug trafficking activities. Although from another province, Hung often stays in guesthouses and hotels in Vinh city to carry out his operations. He frequently appears and disappears in border areas and checkpoints, exhibiting suspicious behavior related to drug-related crimes.

On December 14, 2024, having received information that Hung was traveling from Ha Tinh to obtain drugs from a foreigner, the Special Investigation Team persistently monitored his movements. However, to avoid detection by authorities, the suspect was very secretive, frequently changing locations, times, and routes, making investigation and clarification extremely difficult. Therefore, to successfully apprehend the suspect and prevent Tran The Hung from exploiting his familiarity with the terrain to dispose of evidence and escape, under the close direction of the Director of the Provincial Police and the Deputy Director, Head of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Provincial Police, the Special Investigation Team meticulously planned the operation.

Despite the rainy and cold weather, the task force, with unwavering determination, patiently waited for the opportune moment to crack the case. At approximately 2:00 AM on December 15, 2024, when Tran The Hung was driving his vehicle to the area of ​​Km 20, National Highway 7C, in Nghi Dong commune, Nghi Loc district, under the direction of the provincial police leadership, the task force, in coordination with Traffic Police Team No. 2 - Traffic Police Department, deployed operational measures to apprehend the suspect. Although Tran The Hung fiercely resisted and attempted to escape, the members of the task force cleverly and bravely subdued and successfully apprehended him. At the scene, the authorities seized 28,000 synthetic drug pills along with other related evidence.

Determined to fight crime to the end, on December 15th, the Special Investigation Team assigned several task forces to apprehend the suspects involved. At approximately 3:00 AM, in Nghi An commune, Vinh city, the Special Investigation Team successfully arrested Nguyen Quoc Cuong (born in 1986), residing in Nghi Hai ward (Vinh city), for illegally trading narcotics. They seized 2,501 small packets of heroin, 107 synthetic drug pills, 2 mobile phones, and other evidence. Cuong was a drug dealer in the area.

At approximately 11:00 AM on the same day, at the Cau Treo border gate area (Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province), the Special Task Force, in coordination with the Cau Treo Border Gate Border Guard Station, Ha Tinh, arrested the notorious drug kingpin, Tong Cu Mua (commonly known as Cu, born in 1983), residing in Bolikhamsai province, Laos, for the illegal trafficking of narcotics; seizing two mobile phones and other related evidence.

Subsequently, at approximately 11:30 AM on the same day, in Na Ngoi commune, Ky Son district, the special task force, in coordination with the Ky Son District Police, Nghe An province, successfully apprehended Mua Dua Thai (born in 1969), residing in Phu Kha 2 village, Na Ngoi commune, Ky Son district, who was a key figure in transporting drugs for Tong Cu Mua from across the border into Vietnam. He was arrested for illegally transporting narcotics, and 100 synthetic drug pills and other related evidence were seized.

Currently, the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Vinh City Police Department is continuing to investigate and expand the case, and will strictly handle the suspects in accordance with the law.
