Arrest of subject specializing in smashing car windows and stealing property in Nghe An

On November 26, 2021, information from Vinh City Police said that the unit had just successfully arrested a subject who caused a series of incidents.smash car windowsto steal property.

The arrested subject is Nguyen Canh Nam (born in 2001), residing in Nam Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district.

Since the beginning of August 2021, a series of cases of car windows being smashed to steal property have occurred in Vinh City and neighboring districts. Faced with this situation, under the direction of the Provincial Police Department, Vinh City Police have established a special project to combat the crime.

Using professional measures, Vinh City Police presided over and coordinated with relevant units to successfully arrest Nguyen Canh Nam, the perpetrator of a series of property thefts while he was in Quynh Vinh commune, Hoang Mai town.

At the police station, Nguyen Canh Nam confessed that, taking advantage of the night when there were few people around, he often went to areas where families' cars were parked on the sidewalk, in front of houses or in locations where visibility was obscured, then used specialized tools to smash and break the glass doors to steal valuables left in the cars such as: cash, watches, ATM cards, etc.

Initially, the police determined that from the beginning of August 2021 until his arrest, Nam had consecutively committed 3 cases of breaking car windows to steal property with a total value of nearly 200 million VND.

Currently, Vinh City Police are recovering assets and continuing to investigate and expand the case.
