Nearly 5 kg of rhino horns smuggled by air seized
Seven pieces of rhino horn weighing a total of nearly 5 kg were smuggled by air and have just been seized.
On the afternoon of April 16, the Customs Branch of Tan Son Nhat International Airport announced that this unit had just coordinated with the Department of Police for Prevention of Smuggling Crimes - Ministry of Public Security and the Department of Police for Investigation of Crimes on Economic Management and Positions - Ho Chi Minh City Police to discover and detain two passengers, including a 34-year-old female and a 21-year-old male entering Vietnam from Africa, illegally transporting 7 pieces of rhino horn with a total weight of nearly 5 kg.

According to the Customs agency, this is the horn of a very rare African two-horned rhinoceros, the estimated value of the evidence is over 6 billion VND.
These subjects had cleverly hidden the rhino horns in their personal luggage, household appliances and computer speakers to avoid the authorities. However, through professional reconnaissance and information gathering measures, the customs agency promptly discovered and prevented the incident.
Tan Son Nhat Airport Customs has initiated a criminal case and continues to coordinate with relevant agencies to investigate and clarify the network, gangs, and violations of the subjects.
