Arrest of a foreign female passenger transporting nearly 5.4 kg of cocaine

Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department said that on the night of November 3, the Department's Drug Control Team coordinated with the Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch to inspect and arrest a female passenger named Kaur Gurcharan Singh Manpal, born in 1971, Malaysian nationality, entering Tan Son Nhat International Airport on flight EK392 for transporting drugs.

Previously, when screening the female passenger's checked baggage, the task force discovered many suspicious points in the screening image, so they asked the subject to bring all the baggage to the Key Inspection Room for manual inspection. After checking all the baggage of the subject, the task force discovered that the baggage contained personal items such as a handbag, a suitcase, a shoulder bag, a wallet... However, using professional measures, the customs force discovered many unusual signs from the female passenger's personal items. Cutting open these items, the task force discovered a total of 16 packages of white powder, weighing 5.39 kg, hidden in the suitcase, shoulder bag, book cover...

The rapid test results of the Customs agency and the appraisal certificate of the Criminal Technique Department - Ho Chi Minh City Police identified the above white powder as cocaine.

According to the investigation of the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department, the subject had traveled through many countries before arriving in Vietnam. Specifically, the subject traveled from Malaysia through Colombia, Panama, Sao Paulo (Brazil), Dubai (United Arab Emirates) before arriving in Vietnam.

The Customs Department has handed over the subject and evidence to the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police for further investigation under their authority.
