Man arrested for transporting 70 kg of rare and endangered animals on motorbike
(Baonghean.vn) - 02 mountain goats, 11 bamboo rats, and 04 weasels are the rare and endangered animals that Vuong transported from Laos to Vietnam for consumption.
On the afternoon of June 23, Team 2, Environmental Police Department of Nghe An Province Police, in coordination with Chau Binh Commune Police and Quy Chau District Police, arrested Vi Van Vuong (born in 1988), residing in Ke Mong Village, Chau Binh Commune, Quy Chau, for violating regulations on the protection of rare and endangered animals.

Vuong was discovered and caught red-handed by the Special Investigation Committee while using a motorbike to transport rare and endangered animals for sale in Ke Nam village, Chau Binh commune, Quy Chau district.
The seized exhibits include: 02 goats weighing 53kg; 11 bamboo rats, 04 weasels weighing 17.2kg and 01 motorbike with license plate 37G1 - 001.68 driven by Vuong transporting the above goods.
The case is currently being investigated by the authorities.
Previously, since May 2019, Team 2, Environmental Police Department of Nghe An Province Police has established a special project to combat ringleaders importing rare and endangered animals from Laos to Vietnam for consumption.
After a period of temporary suspension of operations due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, by early June 2020, when border lines and border gates resumed trade, the subjects resumed operations.
