Arrested couple for fraud and appropriation of 371 billion VND

On December 6, Quang Nam Provincial Police confirmed that they had just decided toprosecute, prosecuted the accused, issued an arrest warrant to temporarily detain Tran Van Hoang (born 1966), Tran Thi Thanh Nguyen (born 1971, both residing in Tam Ky city, Quang Nam province) for the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".

Accordingly, in 2004, this couple established Hoang Nguyen Company to do grocery business.

From 2004 to 2018, Hoang and Nguyen bought 32 plots of land in the form of a pillow. Of these, 27 plots were mortgaged to the bank to borrow more than 244 billion VND.

Along with that, this couple also borrowed money from 21 people for more than 126.8 VND. Initially, Hoang and Nguyen paid the principal and interest to the borrowers on time.

By the end of June, Hoang and his wife were unable to pay their debts. To have money to pay the creditors, Nguyen and Hoang provided false information about their bank loans so that the victims would trust them and give them the money.

However, this couple used the loan to pay principal and interest to banks, individuals and businesses, then appropriated it, and are now unable to repay the debt.

The total amount of money that the couple Tran Van Hoang and Tran Thi Thanh Nguyen appropriated from the victims was 371 billion VND.

The case is being further investigated and clarified by the authorities.
