On the evening of October 2, Phan Thiet City Police (Binh Thuan) detained and took statements from more than 22 suspects for theft and robbery.
At Binh Hung Ward Police Station alone, more than 10 people were arrested by police and residents for snatching phones from residents who were filming and taking pictures of students parading in the Mid-Autumn Festival Lantern Festival on the streets of Phan Thiet.

Police determined that most of the suspects arrested were from other provinces who came to Phan Thiet to work as pickpockets. They took advantage of the moment when people were crowded on both sides of the road watching the festival and were off guard to snatch phones and jewelry.
