Arrest of drug addict who murdered 17-month-old nephew

According to the investigation agency, Xeo Van Nhi is not married and is the youngest child in the family. Nhi lives with his brother Xeo Van Loi and his wife and sister-in-law Cut Thi Nguyet in Na Loi commune, Ky Son district.

At 11:00 p.m. on November 20, 2015, Xeo Van Nhi was watching TV when Xeo Van Khinh (17 months old), the eldest son of his brother and his wife, woke up and cried. Ms. Nguyet tried to comfort him but he did not stop.

Xeo Van Nhi walked over and snatched the baby from Ms. Nguyet's arms and said, "You two go outside, I have something to tell the baby." When Mr. Loi and Ms. Nguyet heard Nhi say that, they walked out of the house. At this time, Xeo Van Nhi immediately locked the door from the inside, slammed the baby against the house pillar, and when he saw the baby was motionless, he dropped the baby on the floor. Ms. Nguyet and her husband broke the door and rushed in, but Xeo Van Nhi ran out and escaped. The baby later died on the spot.

Lieutenant Colonel To Van Hau said: Upon receiving the report, the unit formed a team to approach the scene, but the terrain was difficult, it was raining, and the road was muddy, so it took nearly two hours to reach the scene. The police organized an investigation and determined that Xeo Van Nhi was the perpetrator, so they focused on capturing the subject.

At 2:00 p.m. on November 21, Xeo Van Nhi was on his way back home when he was arrested by undercover police. The suspect did not resist.

At the investigation agency, Xeo Van Nhi confessed to all his crimes.Xeo Van Nhi confessed to using synthetic drugs for over a year. Ky Son District Police determined that Xeo Van Nhi showed signs of being high on drugs at the time of the crime.
