Emergency arrest of the man who stabbed someone to death at a refreshment shop

On the afternoon of March 7, the Investigation Police Agency of Ben Luc District Police, Long An Province, issued an emergency arrest warrant for Tran Giac Thong (born in 1990; residing in Ward 3, My Tho City, Tien Giang Province) for murder. Due to the seriousness of the case, the Investigation Police Agency of Ben Luc District transferred Thong to the Department of Investigation of Social Order Crimes (PC45) of Long An Province Police for handling.

People came to watch the police examine the crime scene at the cafe.

At around 2:00 p.m. on March 6, three young men drove a motorbike from Ben Luc town, Ben Luc district to a refreshment shop along National Highway 1 in Hamlet 3, Nhut Chanh commune, Ben Luc district to collect a debt from a waitress there. Ms. Tran Kim La (born in 1960; owner of the shop) said the employee was not present.

This group thought that Mrs. La was lying, so an argument broke out. Mr. Hua Hoang Oanh (born in 1980; Mrs. La's son) heard it and called these three people back. Angry at being chased away, Thong pulled out a knife and stabbed Mr. Oanh many times in the chest and stomach, causing him to collapse on the spot. Discovering the incident, Mr. Huynh Van Diem (born in 1987; residing in Tien Giang) who was sitting drinking coffee rushed out to stop them. Because he was at a disadvantage, he was also stabbed many times and fell unconscious.

After committing the crime, they got into the car and were about to leave, when people surrounded and arrested them. Some people beat Thong, causing soft tissue injuries, and then handed him over to the criminal police of Ben Luc district.

On the way to the emergency room, Mr. Oanh died, while Mr. Diem was taken to Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC) for emergency treatment; he has not yet recovered.

According to many locals, Thong is a debt collector living in Ben Luc district.
